[TIPS] Using classic lenses on a Fujifilm X camera
Manual lenses and Fujifilm's dials go well together
Fujifilm X bodies already ask you to set aperture and shutter speed by hand, so a classic manual-focus lens feels at home on them. Rayqual's X-mount adapters have been confirmed to work on all X-mount bodies, including the X-Pro2, X-T2 and X-H1.
Which adapter?
- LM-FX for Leica M lenses, plus L39-FX for screw-mount Leica lenses and VISO-FX for Visoflex II/III lenses.
- SLR lenses: NF-FX (Nikon F), FD-FX (Canon FD), MD-FX (Minolta MD), PK-FX (Pentax K), CY-FX (Contax/Yashica), LR-FX (Leica R), KAR-FX (Konica AR), EXA/TOP-FX (Exakta / Topcon), DKL-FX (Deckel), HS-FX (Hasselblad V) and M42-FX. There is also an M42-FX.ADJ for M42 lenses that need the adjustable type.
- Lenses with no aperture ring of their own: NFG-FX (Nikon F G-type) and PDA-FX (Pentax DA) have an aperture ring built into the adapter.
Recommended camera settings (example: X-H1)
- Set Release Without Lens to ON. Otherwise the shutter will not fire with an adapted lens. It is in the Setup (wrench) menu, Operation Button/Dial Setting, on page 2/3.
- Move the focus mode lever on the front of the camera to M.
- To magnify the view for focusing, press the rear command dial near your thumb. Rotate it to change the magnification and move the focus area with the focus lever.
- For image stabilisation, open the Shooting (camera) menu, set the shake-prevention mode to "Always" or "Shooting", then enter the focal length of the mounted lens under Mount Adapter Setting. Do not forget to update the focal length whenever you change lenses.
All Rayqual adapters are 100% made in Japan, and we recommend one adapter per lens so that changing lenses stays quick. The instruction manual for mirrorless mount adapters (PDF) is linked from each product page.
